BBE Music set to release J Dilla’s Welcome 2 Detroit–The 20th Anniversary Edition

Big fan of the vinyl reissues and releases and this looks to be a dope addition to J Dilla fan’s collections. A 12 disc, 7″ box set that will feature instrumentals, studio outtakes, alternative mixes, plus a book about the history of the making of the album. There is also a new remix of “Think Twice” by Japanese Dj/producer Muro.

Out of all the posthumous releases, I think J Dilla’s have been done better than most and Ma Dukes has worked hard to maintain his legacy. She says about the project, “I’m real happy that Welcome 2 Detroit was done by BBE. Because I don’t think another label would have helped him embrace his full creativity and given him the control to make it a piece of who he was! Because of BBE he was able to pour more of himself into it, into every bit of music on this album. His spirit lives in Welcome 2 Detroit. It’s him! Alive and thriving in every song!”

The project is set to be release on February 5, 2021.
